We welcome walkers and cyclists at our self-catering cottage, and provide a washing machine and tumble-dryer for all your muddy clothes! We also provide maps and guide books to help you decide on a route.
We have maps and guide-books showing the routes of several walks in the area.
Our favourite walk is right from our doorstep, and passes through the grounds of the Kimmerghame Estate, taking about one and a half hours at a liesurely pace.
For a cliff-top walk go to Eyemouth and walk along the cliffs to Coldingham Bay, and then on to St Abbs. This walk can be extended around St Abbs' Head Nature Reserve, with views of nesting cormorants and puffins in season. Catch the hourly bus back from St Abbs to Eyemouth
Another good short walk is from Paxton House along the banks of the River Tweed to Chain Bridge Honey Farm. Cross one of the oldest chain bridges still in service in Britain, then discover how honey is made. Return via the bird hides and adventure playground at Paxton House. you may be lucky enough to see a red squirrel.
There are several long-distance walks nearby.
The Borders Abbeys Way is a circular route which links the sites of 4 great ruined abbeys. The section from Kelso to Jedburgh passes beside the River Teviot, while the Melrose to Selkirk section passes Abbotsford House.
The Southern Upland Way is Britain's first official coast to coast long distance footpath, and passes close to Duns at Abbey St Bathans. The Scottish Borders have a booklet of 50 Short Walks on the Southern Upland Way - see below.

Several marked cycle routes pass close to the cottage.
The Borderloop is a magnificient 250 mile waymarked circular route taking in the best of the Scottish Borders.
The Tweed Cycleway is an attractive route which takes the River Tweed as its linking theme.
Shorter Circular Routes start from Duns Market Square, and are now route-marked.
